Excess Superclub in Quezon City got rocked by the Converse "Get Loud" band competition about a week ago where 5 band-finalists battled it out to win Converse's first-ever song-writing competition and musical showdown.
The five semi-pro bands from independent rock scene were composed of
Brisom from the National Capital Region,
Kissbone from South Luzon,
Bethany from Visayas,
Jad Montenegro from Mindanao, and
Even from North Luzon.

Winners Rock On!
“After selecting these bands through an exhaustive nationwide search, rallying their supporters through various online initiatives and organizing bar tours to get them revved up for the big day, we are down to the wire and eager to know who will be the chosen one. It’s just really a matter of giving an explosive performance on stage and establishing that unique connection with the audience,” says Eli Bonsol, Converse Philippines’ advertising and marketing manager.
It was an awesome night listening to the five bands who performed original songs composed exclusively for the competition. the criteria for which they were judged composed of the following:
- Composition : 30%
- Musicality : 25%
- Live Performance : 25%
- Online Votes: 20%
I think 3 bands really stood out in the competition. However, there can only be one winner. And for the judges, they were the following:
- Grand Prize: Even
- 1st Runner Up: Bethany
- 2nd Runner Up: Jad Montenegro
- 3rd Runner Up: Brisom
- 4th Runner Up: Kissbone
*People’s Choice Award: Even

Even, as the grand winner, got the prestige of being the country’s first-ever “
Get Loud” champ. The top band took home
P150,000 of cash and Converse products. The first and second runner-ups and the two finalists was awarded with
P100,000, P60,000 and
P40,000 of cash and Converse products respectively.

Jam Bumanlag (guitars),
Coco Saupan (bass) and
Dan Allan Acosta (drums),
Even from North Luzon is a Baguio-based band with “dark and melancholic” sounds. They take pride for their songs for their “well thought-out lyrics woven into heavy chugs and bass, unisoned into drumlines.” Even's winning piece was “
Luminary.”

Although my personal top bet "Bethany" only placed 1st runner-up, I know they will have a bright future as well in the rock music industry. Congratulations to "Even" band for winning the first-ever Converse’s “Get Loud" band competition.
