14 Tips for #MYOH2014 (Make Your Own Havaianas 2014)

It's that time of the year again when Havaianas All Flip Flops in the Philippines holds it's annual Make Your Own Havaianas (MYOH)!

More than just customizing your own pair of Havaianas, MYOH2014 is an event where you can mix and match different soles and straps, and embellish them with awesome pins.

Before the sale proper starting on May 8, 2014, Style Wise Manila was able to witness the grand launch for the press and VIP guests last night at the new Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City.

After the opening remarks, festive dances gyrating to Brazilian drum beats entertained guests and wowed the crowd.

After which, of course we created our own Make Your Own Havaianas pair as the main highlight of the event!

So before we get all excited and giddy about the public opening of the  Make Your Own Havainas 2014 tomorrow, here are 14 Tips to make your #MYOH2014 experience a festive one.

• Tip 1 : Choose the sole that fits you!

Unless you have a unique body-to-foot-proportion, the SLIM soles and straps are for girls while the TOP  soles and straps are for guys.

The size ranges in (Europrean) options include 33/34, 35/36, 37/38, 39/40, 41/42, 43/44, and 45/46
Top/Slim Sole and Basic Strap is priced at Php 895 while Top/Slim Sole and Metallic Strap is priced at Php 945.

• Tip 2 : Select a Strap of Different Color !

Although the common Havaianas default designs have the same sola and strap colors, MYOH is your chance to get out of the norm and exercise you creativity!

Choose a strap color different from your sole to have your own customized look!

My inspiration for MYOH2014 is from the Havaianas logo hence I combined a Ruby Red sole and White straps.I personally choose the white strap so that the pins I will choose will stand out against the white background strap.

Mroeover, you can choose a METALLIC top for the more premium look. You can choose from Silver, Golden, or Rose Gold.

• Tip 3 : You Can Choose the Commemorative Pair!

If I would get my next pair, it would definintely be the MYOH2014 Commemorative Pair! I love the design because it combined different basic colors on the sole.

This means that it is easy to pair it with any strap color and any summer color outfit when dressing up!

• Tip 4 : Unlimited Pins in 24 Selections

Choose from any of the trendy 24 pin selections this year from the categories of Brazil Love, Beats of Brazil, Go Team Brazil, Wildlife, and more!

Pin-up to your heart's content as you have basically unlimited number of pins to attach to your flip flops as long as you want.

But of course, as long as it can fit in the straps of your Havs pair. :) The pins are limited in number, they are on a first-come first-served basis so come early!

16 of the pins cost Php 100 each while the remaining 7 pins costs Php 150 each.

• Tip 5 : Choose the Brazil Love pin category if you are a fan of Brazil

#MYOH2014 offers 2 pins in "Brazil Love" - the 'Brazil Flag' and 'Rio'.

Since I already have the Brazil Flag in an older pair, I choose the "I <3 Rio" pin this time.

• Tip 6 : Choose Georgeous "Crytal" Pins for the Premium Look

Needless to say, it's not for my Havaianas pair. :p ButI hihgly recommend it for the girls.  The 'Crystal' pins looks gorgeous and lends the added premium look to your slippers.

• Tip 7 : Choose "Summer Fun" Pins Just Because

Hey, it's summer and it is for us to enjoy! Hence, I got the "Sun" and "Hipsicle" for my right slipper. You still have the 'Bikini' (that looks like a smiley)  and the 'Heart' pin in the summer category.

• Tip 8 : Guys, get the 'Go Team Brazil'

We're not leaving the guys without option here. Go sporty with the  'Go Team Brazil' 'Jersey' pin and 'soccerball' pin.

• Tip 9 : Be Different, Choose Unique Pins

Basically, I went for the unique-shaped pins from different category. I got the 'hexagon' and 'Triangle' from the 'Tribal' category, the 'Monkey' from the 'Wildlife' category, and 'Carmen Miranda' from the 'Beats of Brazil'.

• Tip 10 : You Cannot Choose a Sole Pair of Different Colors

I tried asking if I can choose a sole pair (left and right) of different colors just because. :P But the staff confirmed that's not possible. It's just my way stretching my imagination and creativity in making my own Havaianas. :)

At least I asked! :P

• Tip 11 : Come Early from May 8 to 12

Expectedly, the first day (Thursday) can get crazy. Friday will be packed since it's a Friday, while Saturday will be as busy because it's a weekend. In short, your best bet for a minimal queue would be to come ideally before lunch once the mall opened.

Since the colors and sizes of the soles and straps are limited, they are on a first-come first-served basis so come early!

In summary, try your best to be there from 10am to 12nn to get you MYOH!

• Tip 12 : Claim Your Complimentary Havaianas Bag!

After you're done with your MYOH2014, you can proceed to the cashier to pay up and then claim your colorful complimentray Havainas Bag patterned similarly with the MYOH Commemorative Pair.

• Tip 13 : Maximum of 5 Pairs per Person, but....

Each customer is allowed to purchase a maximum of five (5) per day. So you know what to do -- bring your family anf friends so you have more slots! Haha! :)

• Tip 14 : More Discount and Coupons!

You can pay via cash or credit card but Citibank credit card holders are entitled to a 10% discount and can opt to Pay Lite for 3 months at 0% interest or pay with points.

You can also spot some discount coupons for your future purchases in selected Havaianas All Flip Flops stores!
